GI Society Participates in Best Medicines Coalition Conference

On November 17 and 18, 2014, the GI Society senior team participated in the latest Best Medicines Coalition (BMC) conference. The BMC consists of health charities from across the country. The GI Society’s CEO, Gail Attara, is in her fifth year as BMC’s Chair. The BMC holds conferences for its 25 members and invites to other patient groups to attend. This year, more than 60 individuals participated.

This year, the focus for the two day agenda was ‘Pharmaceutical Care for Patients: Today’s Challenges, Tomorrow’s Vision’. A variety of topics were presented by renowned speakers on current health care attitudes, health technology assessment, formulary management, the private market, and emerging frontiers in personalized medicine. Lively and provoking discussion followed all presentations contributing to a successful symposium.

We are pleased to represent GI and liver patients as members of such an influential group, and look forward to the next meeting!
